Volume:6
Issue:4
Abstract:

The article analyzes the impact of digital transformation on television journalism from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Television, which was the most powerful mass medium of the 20th century, has undergone fundamental changes since the beginning of the 21st century due to the influence of digital technologies, high-speed internet, and social media platforms. Television has ceased to be a single-channel, passive audience-oriented medium and has transformed into an interactive, multi-platform, and user-centered form of media. The study is based on classical and contemporary theories (Jenkins, Castells, McQuail, Napoli, Pavlik), and compares international and local (Azerbaijani) experiences. As a result, it is shown that digitalization has altered the structure of television journalism, the production of content, and the model of communication with the audience. In the new media environment, television is evolving into a platform that strengthens interaction with the audience, increases individual participation, and expands its social functions. The article also highlights the importance of innovative approaches in the television field, integration with OTT and mobile platforms, interactive broadcasting models, and user-oriented content strategies. It recommends the development of new skills and strategies for professional journalism and the continuation of scientific research in this direction. In conclusion, the digital transformation of television enables it to respond promptly to the changing information needs of the audience and to establish more interactive communication.
