This article analyzes the current state of the national security system of the Republic of Azerbaijan against the background of modern geopolitical transformations and the nature of new threats facing the country. The priority of the state's national security strategy is not only to repel foreign military interventions, but also to create sustainable defense systems against asymmetric threats such as cyber operations, manipulative information warfare, economic pressure and ideological provocations aimed at disrupting internal stability.
The article examines the new geopolitical realities that have emerged in the South Caucasus, especially after the 44-day Patriotic War and the restoration of territorial integrity, and the impact of these factors on the national security architecture. Here, the strategic course implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in the fields of military-political, economic and energy security, as well as the achievements of the alliance relations formalized by the Shusha Declaration, are analyzed.
The study systematizes the asymmetric challenges of the modern era - cyber threats, elements of hybrid warfare and disinformation campaigns. Economic sovereignty supports Azerbaijan's political independence and ability to make independent decisions. Although information conflicts and cyber threats are considered fundamental risks to national security in today's geopolitical realities, the legal and technical infrastructure created in the country, together with the strategic course implemented to ensure digital independence, ensure the successful overcoming of these difficulties. This assessment assesses the effectiveness of preventive security mechanisms applied to protect Azerbaijan's national interests at the global and regional levels.
