This article analyzes the history of army building, the evolution of military education, and the recent innovations within the military education system as fundamental pillars of the Republic of Azerbaijan's institutional development following the restoration of its independence. The authors investigate the objectives and outcomes of systemic reforms carried out under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who played an indispensable role in establishing a professional officer corps and modernizing military training. Furthermore, the study examines the strategic activities of President Ilham Aliyev, analyzing his contributions toward strengthening the independent state, the implementation of tasks arising from the National Security Concept, and the fundamental principles of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy. The research highlights the recent advancements in national security and the structural development of the Armed Forces, specifically focusing on the establishment of modern requirements for officer training. The authors emphasize that the rapid development across all spheres of state building has facilitated successful foreign policy initiatives, the creation of new cooperation formats, and active participation in global projects. Special attention is given to the measures taken to ensure national security and the significant innovations in army building during the post-war period. Finally, the article underscores the 44-day Patriotic War and the 2023 local anti-terror measures achieved through the multifaceted and intensive leadership of President Ilham Aliyev as historic milestones that successfully restored Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and state sovereignty.
