The article presents an analysis of the military potential of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) based on foreign sources and information. For this purpose, it examines the constitutional and ideological foundations of the IRI’s military policy, the levels of its long-term objectives, the characteristics of the organizational structure of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the principles governing their operations. The article generally examines the role and mission of the Commander-in-Chief and the General Staff in the management process of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and provides information about the latter’s four organizations. The article examines the structure and function of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran as a balancing institution among the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran (AJA), the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Law Enforcement Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FARAJA), and the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL).
