In the works of the prominent Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi, the literature of Sufism and ırfan, the artistic and philosophical thought of that time, the religious and literary ideology were widely given. It is no coincidence that Nizami's poems are mainly based on cognitive perfection, and in his poems the aspects of asceticism, purity, secularism and isolation prevail. Although Nizami Ganjavi did not belong to any Sufi sect, he was in contact with the Sufi representatives of the time and was aware of their worldview. It should be noted that Sufism is a system of religious, philosophical, spiritual and moral thought and behavior that was widespread in the Islamic world. Of course, Sufism and gnosis did not pass unnoticed in the works of the twelfth-century poet Nizami. As it is known, members of Sufism used a unique terminology both in speech and in their works. A number of words and expressions are used in Sufism in a symbolic sense, different from their true meaning. The poet uses the terms of Sufism, which are widely used in his works, to tell a person connected with the world that the world is mortal and temporary, and to prevent human beings from clinging to the world, urging them to be more attached to the spiritual world.
