In the article, the army building process of the Azerbaijan Republic was investigated in the context of Ottoman-Azerbaijani military cooperation. The Ottoman-Azerbaijani military drafting projects prepared by the Istanbul government in July 1918 were­ investigated and the role and place of the Ottoman Empire in the process of the establishment of the Azerbaijani army was determined. The nature of military cooperation between the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Azerbaijan has also been studied. The participation of the newly-established Azerbaijani army in the Baku operation was also commented on. Most archival documents involved in the problem-related research have been brought to scientific circulation for the first time.
